Document exports

A document your agent wrote is a real document. It doesn't live in the chat — it lives in an editor you can open, edit, and take with you. This page covers every way out.

Nine of Unyo's ten agents write documents (Steve, the website builder, doesn't). Whichever one wrote it, the export menu is the same.

The five destinations

Plus Copy — the whole document as rich text on your clipboard, ready to paste into an email or a doc with its formatting intact.

Export a document

1. Open the document by clicking its card in the chat. The editor opens in the side panel.
2. Click the Download icon in the panel header.
3. Pick Markdown, PDF or Word .docx.
4. The file downloads. That's it — no round trip to an agent, no credits spent.

Copy as rich text

1. Open the document.
2. Click the ⋯ menu in the panel header.
3. Click Copy.

Paste into Gmail, Outlook, Word, Google Docs or Notion and the headings, bold, lists and tables come with it. If the target app refuses rich text, Unyo falls back to Markdown, then to plain text — you never get an empty paste.

Save to Google Doc

1. Open the document.
2. Download → Google Drive, or ⋯ → Edit in Google Docs.
3. If Drive isn't connected yet, you'll be sent to Integrations (sidebar) to connect it. Connect, then try again.
4. A tab opens on the finished Google Doc.

What lands in your Drive:

• A real Google Doc, not an attached file — commentable, editable, shareable with Google's own sharing.
• Markdown tables converted into real Google Docs tables.
• Your document's title, headings, tables and images — converted by Google into a native Doc you can comment on and share.

Share a public link

1. Open the document.
2. Click the share icon (↗) in the panel header.
3. Turn sharing on. You get a link: unyo.app/share/file/<id>.
4. Copy it, or push it straight to X, LinkedIn, Facebook or Reddit from the same popover.
5. Turn sharing off whenever you want. The link goes dead immediately.

The public page is the real document, not a screenshot of it: citations, tables, images and the outline minimap all work, and readers can copy it or download the Markdown. They cannot edit it, and they never see your account.

What survives an export (and why that's not obvious)

• Images always render. In the editor, an image you added to a heading or paragraph is stored as a property of that block, not as a plain <img> tag. Every export would silently drop it — so before each export Unyo materialises those images into real image tags first. Slot images in your Word file, your PDF, your Google Doc.
• PDF images aren't blank. Images hosted elsewhere are inlined into the PDF as data before it's rendered, instead of being fetched at render time and failing.
• Citations survive. The inline [n] markers hold through edit, reload and export, and the Markdown export reconstructs the References appendix in the document's language — available in 10 languages, chosen by the language the document was written in, not your interface language.
• Tables survive. Markdown tables become real tables in Word, in the PDF and in Google Docs.
• Nothing private leaks into a link. Every link and image URL in an export is restricted to public http(s) — no tokens, no signed URLs.

Tips

• Edit first, export last. The export reads what's in the editor right now, so fix the typo, then download.
• Markdown is the cleanest handoff if the document is going into a website or a wiki — you get the actual source, not HTML flattened back into text.
• Word for review, PDF for delivery. Send the .docx to whoever will redline it; send the PDF to whoever will just read it.
• Rename before you export. Your filename comes from the document title — a document still called "Untitled" gives you Untitled.pdf.
• Ask for a section edit, not a rewrite. Say "shorten the intro" and only the intro changes — your tables and citation numbering stay exactly where they are, so an export you already sent stays consistent with the new one.

Troubleshooting

The Google Drive tab opened and then showed an error. Usually the Drive connection expired — Google refresh grants don't last forever. Go to Integrations in the sidebar, reconnect Google Drive, and export again. Unyo drops the stale connection automatically so the reconnect button is always there.

Nothing happened when I clicked Google Drive. The tab is opened the instant you click (so your browser doesn't block it as a popup) and filled in once the file is ready. If your popup blocker got it anyway, allow popups for unyo.app.

My image is missing from the .docx. Check that it's still visible in the editor before exporting — the export mirrors the editor exactly. If you added the image by URL, the URL has to be a public https one.

The shared link doesn't show my latest edit yet. The public page refreshes itself every few seconds and whenever the reader focuses the tab. Give it a moment, or ask them to refresh.

Section editing says the document is "legacy format". A small number of very early documents were stored in an older shape that can't be section-edited. Ask the agent to recreate the document — the new one will support section edits and every export.
